I support youth and adults who are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, navigating life transitions, or struggling with cultural, family, and identity-related pressures. You might be experiencing stress from school or work, relationship challenges, pressure to meet family expectations, or feeling caught between different values and versions of yourself. Perhaps you find yourself putting others’ needs before your own, struggling to set boundaries, or feeling stuck in patterns that are difficult to understand or change. I also work with individuals who have experienced early life stress and are exploring how their past continues to shape their lives today.
As someone who immigrated to Canada from Iraq, I understand that adapting to a new environment can involve more than adjusting to a new place. It can bring shifts in identity, relationships, cultural expectations, and a sense of belonging. My own experiences have shaped my appreciation for the complexities of navigating different cultural values while trying to understand yourself and your place in the world. I bring this perspective into my work while recognizing that everyone’s experience of culture, identity, and belonging is unique.
My approach is client-centred and trauma-informed, grounded in creating a space where you feel genuinely heard, respected, and free from judgment. I take the time to understand your background, values, and experiences. Together, we can explore the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, build self-awareness, and identify patterns that may be keeping you feeling stuck.
My goal is to help you develop healthier ways of coping with stress and anxiety, strengthen emotional regulation, and build confidence in setting boundaries and expressing your needs. Whether you are navigating a difficult transition, experiencing burnout, questioning aspects of your identity, or feeling disconnected from yourself, therapy can offer a space to slow down, gain clarity, and reconnect with what matters to you.
Before becoming a therapist, I gained experience in research, education, and behavioural support, working with children, youth, immigrant families, and individuals with diverse needs. These experiences deepened my understanding of the importance of empathy, patience, and meeting each person where they are. They have also shaped my understanding of burnout and the challenges of continually supporting others while putting your own needs aside. Therapy can be an opportunity to reconnect with yourself, recognize your limits, and find a healthier balance between caring for others and caring for yourself.
I believe therapy is a collaborative process, and you do not need to have everything figured out before you begin. My role is to meet you where you are and support you in building a life that feels more balanced, authentic, and aligned with who you are.
I also offer therapy in Arabic.
